Hi
Thanks for subscribing to our updates. These emails won’t be a constant inbox flood, we promise.
Call For Submissions
We are open for submissions.
We are looking for short blasts of poetry - a small micro collection, which we will then publish as a split pamphlet / chapbook with a similar amount of poetry from two other writers. There’s no deadline, as we don’t get on with deadlines at all. Take you time.
We’ve been quite detailed in our submissions page- so do please take a look if you’re interested. Please know that this is small DIY independent labour of love, so please don’t be offended if you are rejected. On the other hand, don’t be offended if we can’t make you a rich and famous poet like… erm… Michael Rosen?
Our first pamphlet however is a single author work, as this press was set up to publish it, and work like it.
Rebel Blood Cells
"Important poetry that refuses to make you comfortable, and instead, implores you to pay attention.”
— DEAN RHETORIC author of Foundry Songs
Rebel Blood Cells is a poetry pamphlet that explores Jamie Woods’ experience of acute leukaemia, the illness, the chemotherapy, and the PTSD that followed.
Raw and honest, the poems mix pop culture obsessions with medical side-effects, and find moments of humour, regret, sadness and relief in the most difficult time of Jamie’s life.
“Jamie Woods’ Rebel Blood Cells explores a cancer diagnosis with sensitivity and humour. Opening up the spaces of hospitals and wards, Woods juxtaposes cancer treatment and Star Wars, Blue Peter and blood banks. Here’s a poet who can make you laugh and cry.”
— ZOË BRIGLEY author of Hand & Skull, editor of Poetry Wales
All publisher and author proceeds from sales of this publication are being donated to the charity Leukaemia Care UK, where Jamie is Poet in Residence.
This debut pamphlet contains poems that have featured in publications including Ink Sweat & Tears, Marble Broadsheet, The Wombwell Rainbow, and the Hippocrates Prize shortlisted Ring The Bell.
Pre-orders include a signed paperback, badges and a bookmark.
The book and ebook will be available from Amazon and orderable from other bookshops from June 5th 2023.
Thank you for reading, and we’ll be in touch in May / June with more news.
